PART-TIME EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Onaway Community Chamber of Commerce (OCCC) is seeking an independent contractor for Part-Time Executive Director responsibilities.

This is an outstanding professional opportunity to lead the OCCC, while working closely with businesses in the Onaway Community.

OCCC is a 501 c 6 Non-Profit Organization whose primary mission is “To represent, promote, and improve the business community of the Onaway area in the development of programs, services, and advocacy which will improve the economic well-being of our business members and citizens, while preserving our quality of life.”

As the Executive Director, you will collaborate with the OCCC Board of Directors, be the spokesperson and main point of contact for all chamber related activities, develop and manage chamber events, motivate and recruit active volunteer committees to implement the OCCC’s vision and goals, and cultivate effective relationships with the business community, members, other governmental agencies, other area Chambers, and civic organizations.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • High School Education (Some college is preferred)
  • Experience in business, retail, sales, marketing or related fields (Minimum of 5 years preferred)
  • Ability to manage online presence (social media, website, online newsletter, & email)
  • Flexible schedule & ability to attend events
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience in public speaking and personal relations activities
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work without direct supervision
  • Professional demeanor and personality to deal with general public and prospective entrepreneurs
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate a variety of fundraising events as well as business promotions
  • Knowledge of the area and its attractions/benefits
  • Ability to produce brochures, correspondence, and marketing materials preferred, but not required

PTAC (Procurement Technical Assistance Center) of Northeast Michigan offers free assistance to companies wanting to sell their products or services to the Department of Defense, other federal agencies, the State of Michigan and/or other states, and local agencies. In March 2014 the Presque Isle County Board of Commissioner’s teamed up with Target Alpena and Alpena Chamber of Commerce to bring a regional forum to our county. The County Board of Commissioners continue to work with the local EDC/CDC Board towards growth in our community and are able to have those needs met and served with the help of our partners at the Alpena Chamber.
 

NORTHERN LAKES ECONOMIC ALLIANCE (Cheboygan County)
The Northern Lakes Economic Alliance is a non-profit economic development partnership providing resources to create and retain quality jobs in Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet Counties. The NLEA works directly with local units of government on infrastructure projects, which facilitates local company growth and expansion and assists many local companies on a wide range of issues that helps retain existing jobs and create new jobs. We pro-actively approach economic development as a “team sport” and work hard to strengthen partner relationships, network public and private sectors, and work collaboratively to address economic development challenges and opportunities in our area.
